Link Facebook to your Homepage

You’re hip, you’re on top – your homepage now has a Facebook follow button and your latest tweets stream into your landing page as they go live to the world.  Good job!  But how can you increase the link between the three?

Help with increasing your Facebook and Twitter links

Need help with your profile?

Here’s a great tip to help you increase the links between your website, your Facebook page and your twitter profile.  First off, you need to remember that content is the key to the sustainable growth of your website.  If you’re not generating new copy and keeping your clients and readers informed, then there will be no solid foundation upon which to communicate.  You can’t tell people what to think, but you can tell them what to think about – that’s basic agenda setting theory from Journalism 101.  So – make sure that you’re regularly updating your site – mail us if you need help with this.

Next, on your Facebook page settings, you’re able to link applications (apps) to your profile… and there’s one for Twitter.  Once it’s linked, anything that you post to your page wall will be sent to Twitter, so be careful of unintended duplication.  Now that the link is made, here’s how you can boost the link between the three.

Twitter will only publish 140 characters, if the Facebook post is longer, twitter will automatically paste a mini-url into your tweet, linking it back to Facebook.  Hence, your Facebook page status updates need to be longer that 140 characters if you want the link-back to be made.  Your tweets will look a little like the screenshot on the left.

There are several more communication skills to consider, and that’s where we come in – the communications strategy experts.

At timslatter.com we believe that less is more and try to communicate quickly and effectively so that our clients’ readers are able to get the best out of every post, status and tweet update.  Whether they are reading an email, following on Twitter or socializing on Facebook – good content will grab and keep them.
